Virtual Reality Therapy

Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) is a form of exposure therapy that uses technology. It seeks to help decrease the intensity of the stress responses you might have to situations, thoughts, or memories which provoke an increase in symptoms.

Dr. Arroyo-Carrion or Dr. A is a bilingual trauma therapist. She received her degree from Carlos Albizu University. Dr. A has an extensive background providing individual psychotherapy in outpatient clinics, State and VA hospitals. She has completed training and consultation in numerous evidenced based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Relationships (STAIR), Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol (DBT PE), Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (CBCT-PTSD), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR trained- EMDRIA approved). Dr. Cabiya is a bilingual psychologist. He received his degree from the State University of New York at Albany and did his internship in the Framinham Youth and Family Guidence Center outside Boston, MA. He has over 40 years of experience providing therapy to diverse populations and performing multiple roles in the field including professor, clinical supervisor, director of a hospital’s psychology department, and university chancellor. In addition, Dr. Cabiya has been a psychology professor, consultant for a substance use program, and reviewer of grant proposals for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). He has completed training and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and specializes in providing treatment for trauma and substance use disorders.
