She integrates psychoeducation, nervous system regulation strategies, and trauma-focused therapies to support meaningful and lasting psychological change.
She is the founder of Reflection Psychology and the creator of The Relational Trauma Therapist, a platform dedicated to trauma education, nervous system regulation, and recovery from unhealthy relationship dynamics.
Dr. Arroyo-Carrión provides therapy in English and Spanish and is committed to creating a supportive and culturally responsive environment where clients can explore their experiences and move toward healing.
WHO I WORK BEST WITH
I work with adults who are healing from relational trauma and difficult relationship experiences. Many of my clients feel emotionally exhausted, question their own perceptions, or struggle to trust themselves after unhealthy or painful relationships.
Clients often come to therapy with experiences such as:
• relational trauma or emotionally harmful relationships • difficulty trusting themselves or others • anxiety, overthinking, or emotional overwhelm • depression or loss of motivation • feeling “too sensitive” or emotionally reactive • difficulty setting boundaries or leaving unhealthy dynamics • nervous system dysregulation, hypervigilance, or shutdown
I provide therapy for individuals who want to better understand their emotional patterns, rebuild self-trust, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
COMMON REASONS CLIENTS REACH OUT
Many people seek therapy when they begin noticing patterns such as:
• feeling emotionally drained after difficult relationships • overthinking conversations or questioning their own perceptions • difficulty trusting themselves after relational trauma • anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or persistent worry • feeling stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns • difficulty setting boundaries or expressing needs • feeling disconnected from themselves or others • struggling to feel calm even when life seems stable
Therapy can help you better understand these experiences and begin developing healthier emotional and relational patterns.
THERAPY APPROACHES I USE
My work is grounded in evidence-based trauma treatments. Depending on your needs, therapy may include:
• trauma-focused therapy to process difficult experiences • skills to regulate overwhelming emotions and calm the nervous system • understanding attachment and relationship patterns • rebuilding self-trust and confidence in your perceptions • learning practical tools for boundaries and emotional stability
Treatment approaches may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Relationships (STAIR), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN OUR FIRST SESSION
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what has been bringing you to therapy.
We will discuss your current concerns, your personal history, and what you would like to change or improve in your life. I will also explain how therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and begin identifying treatment approaches that may be helpful for you.
My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Therapy moves at a pace that feels safe and manageable while helping you begin building tools to regulate emotions, process difficult experiences, and reconnect with a sense of stability and self-trust.
Sessions are available in English and Spanish.
IF YOU’RE WONDERING WHETHER THERAPY WITH ME IS A GOOD FIT
You may be a good fit for therapy with me if you often find yourself questioning your own perceptions after difficult relationships, feeling emotionally drained from trying to hold everything together, or struggling to trust your instincts again.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware individuals who have spent years trying to understand what happened in past relationships and why certain patterns keep repeating. They often want to feel calmer, clearer, and more confident in their boundaries and decisions.
If you are looking for a therapist who understands relational trauma and who can help you make sense of your emotional experiences while building practical tools for regulation, self-trust, and healthier relationships, therapy may be a helpful next step.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes the first step is simply having a space where your experiences can be understood.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Arroyo-Carrión shares educational resources about relational trauma, nervous system regulation, and emotional healing through The Relational Trauma Therapist, a trauma education platform dedicated to increasing understanding of relationship-based trauma and recovery.
These resources are educational and not a substitute for psychotherapy services.
Many people who seek therapy for relational trauma worry that they may be overreacting or that others might not understand what they experienced. Therapy can be a place to explore those questions with care, clarity, and professional support.
